Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MantraSamaya and mantra practice.
What is MantraSamaya?
MantraSamaya is a Buddhist mantra counting application designed for Vajrayana practitioners. It provides a digital mala counter, audio mantra playback, progress tracking, and group accumulation features for personal and collective practice.
How does the mala counter work?
The digital mala displays 108 beads with haptic feedback and authentic sound effects. You tap to count each recitation — the app tracks your beads, malas, and total count automatically, so you can focus entirely on your practice.
Can I practice with my sangha?
Yes. Teachers can create group accumulations with a shared mantra target. Students join via invitation and their individual contributions are combined into the group total, visible to all members.
Is the app free?
Yes, MantraSamaya is free to download and use. The core practice features — mala counter, progress tracking, and group participation — are available at no cost.
What platforms is it available on?
MantraSamaya is available on Android via the Google Play Store and as a web app accessible from any browser. iOS support is planned.
How do group accumulations work?
A teacher creates a group with a mantra and a target count. Students receive an invitation link to join. Once joined, each recitation a student counts is added to the group's running total. Teachers can post announcements and monitor progress from their dashboard.
What is samaya?
Samaya is the sacred bond of commitment in Vajrayana Buddhism — between teacher and student, practitioner and practice, and between dharma brothers and sisters in a sangha. MantraSamaya takes its name from this concept, reflecting the app's purpose as a tool for honoring and sustaining that commitment through consistent practice.
