About MantraSamaya
Sacred practice, infinite merit.
The Name
MantraSamaya combines two Sanskrit words central to Vajrayana Buddhist practice. 'Mantra' refers to sacred syllables recited to transform the mind, and 'Samaya' refers to the sacred bond between teacher, student, and practice — a commitment to one's spiritual path that is honored through consistent, dedicated practice.
The Practice of Accumulation
In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, practitioners accumulate large numbers of mantra recitations as part of their spiritual development. A practitioner might commit to 100,000 recitations of the Vajrasattva mantra as a preliminary practice, or join their sangha in accumulating millions of Green Tara mantras for the benefit of all beings. This app was built to support that journey.
The Endless Knot
Our logo features the Shrivatsa, or endless knot — one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism. It represents the interconnectedness of all phenomena, the union of wisdom and compassion, and the endless cycle of cause and effect. In the context of MantraSamaya, it symbolizes the interconnected practice of a sangha working together toward a shared spiritual goal.
Our Mission
MantraSamaya was created to serve the Buddhist community with a tool that respects the depth and seriousness of the practice. It is not a casual mindfulness app — it is a dedicated practice companion designed by and for Vajrayana practitioners. Our goal is to support teachers and students in their sacred work of accumulation and realization.
